We have an exciting new role for an IT Manager to join and lead our current IT team. This is a hands-on management role providing support for approximately 150 users across desktops, laptops and servers.

You will be taking responsibility for the 1st and 2nd line IT support across various systems and ensuring correct policies and procedures are in place. It will require management of the internal infrastructure and advising on new technologies then managing the configuration and implementation. Being proactive you will be able to balance competing priorities and use your great communication skills to deliver first-class IT Management throughout our busy studio environment.

Key Tasks/Areas 

Management

  • Provide leadership to the IT team for all activities of the IT Department, including recruitment and team management
  • Forecast, develop and manage a fiscally responsible annual budget for the IT department.
  • Pro-actively identifying improvements/upgrades to products/services and Hardware used internally including network infrastructure

Service

  • Primarily responsible for managing the Help desk portal driving customer issues through to resolution based on business priorities
  • Carrying out hardware repair and SW upgrades for workstations, laptops and servers.

Security / Policies

  • Maintaining tight IT security procedures such as backups, antivirus, critical updates, etc.
  • Antivirus and Firewall maintenance and administration

Purchasing and Licensing

  • Purchasing and asset management of IT hardware and SW licenses
  • Build relationships with software and hardware vendors to obtain preferential service and loyalty benefits.

Operations

  • Management, monitoring and maintenance of networks, including switches, routers, and Wi-Fi devices
  • Server management, including group policies, DHCP, DNS, AD, WSUS
  • Proactively ensure Outplay has the best-suited equipment for all work-related activities.

Skills and Knowledge 

The ideal candidate would have knowledge and experience of the following: 

  • Jira Help desk or similar help desk system
  • Best practice Service Management principles (leaning on ITIL)
  • Windows desktop & MacOS management & administration
  • Server management, including group policies, DHCP, DNS, AD.
  • Management of networks, including switches, routers, and Wi-Fi devices
  • Email administration / Microsoft 365
  • Azure administration – incl. Azure AD, Conditional Access etc
  • MDM System, preferably Intune
  • Working in a Software Development environment where multiple disciplinary requirements are managed. would be advantageous.

In addition, experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

  • Cloud-based systems and architecture
  • Linux Server administration
  • Documentation (Confluence)
  • Exposure to the Games Industry

On top of the knowledge and experience you will have we are looking for someone who can also bring the following to the role: 

  • The appropriate Service attitude
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • An understanding that regular face-to-face communication with the stakeholders is paramount to success
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • A constant and active interest in developments in the IT and Gaming sector
